I took this month&#8217;s example from the <a href=\"http:\/\/addictedtor.free.fr\/graphiques\/index.php\">R Graph Gallery<\/a>.<br \/>\nHere&#8217;s &#8220;The Bad&#8221;:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theusRus.de\/Blog-files\/Uwe.png\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nAbove graphics tries to depict a <em>r<\/em> by <em>s<\/em> table in a 3-d view.<br \/>\nUwe&#8217;s example has several problems<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The 3-d view make a judgement of the heights almost impossible<\/li>\n<li>The chosen view point (seems to be the default) puts 2 to 3 bars into a row, which makes it even harder to read the plot<\/li>\n<li>What does the gray shading of the bars mean?<\/li>\n<li>Why use meaningless random data for the example &#8230; (if there is nothing to interpret in the data, it is hard to prove that the plot has problems in interpreting the data displayed)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;The Good&#8221; uses Bertin&#8217;s &#8220;Accident&#8221; data. It is a simple fluctuation diagram of <em>Age<\/em> vs. <em>Vehicle<\/em> which performs very well to display simple tables:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theusRus.de\/Blog-files\/Fluctu.png\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nSizes of tiles are simply proportional to the counts in the category.
