Strongholds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The German election is only four weeks away, so it might be worthwhile to take a look at the historic data from the elections in 2002, 2005 and 2009. Unfortunately, the voting districts are all but stable, such that a direct comparison is not trivial.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theusRus.de\/Blog-files\/Union.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theusRus.de\/Blog-files\/Union.png\" width=\"192\" height=\"260\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theusRus.de\/Blog-files\/SPD.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theusRus.de\/Blog-files\/SPD.png\" width=\"192\" height=\"260\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theusRus.de\/Blog-files\/Linke.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theusRus.de\/Blog-files\/Linke.png\" width=\"192\" height=\"260\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The maps show the voting districts, which where won by the either <em>CDU\/CSU<\/em>, <em>SPD<\/em> or <em>Die Linke (<\/em><em>FDP<\/em> or\u00a0<em>B\u00fcndnis 90\/Die Gr\u00fcnen<\/em> didn&#8217;t win any of the districts in the 3 last Bundestagswahlen). The lightest shade indicates &#8220;won in one election&#8221; &#8230; the darkest shade indicates &#8220;won in all three elections&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">What we see immediately is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The south is clearly dominated by <em>CDU\/CSU<\/em><\/li>\n<li>The only stronghold of the <em>SPD<\/em> is the center, i.e. Hesse and the Ruhr area<\/li>\n<li><em>Die Linke<\/em> managed to get hold of parts of the former east<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the two major parties the messages is thus relatively clear. <em>CDU\/CSU<\/em> should battle to win the north against the <em>SPD<\/em>, the <em>SPD<\/em> must battle to win the east from <em>Die Linke<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The German election is only four weeks away, so it might be worthwhile to take a look at the historic data from the elections in 2002, 2005 and 2009.
